Code of ethics


The following comprises the Code of Ethics of OXALIS, spol. s r.o., IČ: 49435281, with a registered office at K Teplinám 663, 763 15 Slušovice, entered in the Commercial Register maintained by the Regional Court in Brno, Section C, Entry 11904

(hereinafter referred to as “OXALIS”)

OXALIS ensures compliance with minimum social standards in its own company and in trade relations with business partners. On this basis, OXALIS establishes the Code of Ethics herein to heighten the minimum social standards of its business partners. These minimum standards form the basis for business relationships between OXALIS and its contractual partners.

1. Human dignity
Human dignity is respected as a basic precondition for the coexistence of people.

2. Compliance with legal regulations
Applicable national and other laws and regulations, in addition to ILO (The International Labour Organization) and UN conventions shall be adhered to. Of all the relevant regulations, the one that best suits the protective purpose is always decisive. Bribery of any type and other forms of corruption are prohibited.

3. Prohibition of child labour
Child labour, as defined by ILO and UN conventions, the SA8000 international standard and national regulations is prohibited in the production of goods or provision of services for OXALIS. The school education of children must be adequately supported. Adolescents who are at least 15 years old according to the definition of the SA8000 international standard, and have not yet reached the age of 18, may only be employed outside school hours. Under no circumstances shall their daily work schedule exceed 8 hours, respectively 10 hours a day including the total time spent at school and work and in travel. Adolescents are not allowed to work at night.

4. Prohibition of forced labour and disciplinary measures
All forms of forced labour are prohibited, in addition to corporal punishment, mental or physical coercion and verbal abuse.

5. Working conditions and remuneration
It is mandatory to observe the applicable national regulations on labour. Pay and other remuneration must comply at the very least with legislation and/or standards demanded of the local business environment. Such remuneration must be clearly defined and provided regularly. The aim is to pay salaries/wages and other allowances that cover the cost of living if the statutory minimum wage is considered too low. Deductions for performance are merely permissible to a limited extent and in proportion to the value of said performance.

Regular maximum working hours are governed by legal regulations. Additional overtime hours are only permissible if deemed necessary for short-term operational reasons and permitted by general law. Any overtime undertaken shall be remunerated separately or compensated for by time in lieu.

6. Prohibition of discrimination
Discrimination based on gender or sexual identity, age, religious belief, race, ethnic or social origin, nationality or disability is prohibited.

7. Freedom of organisation and assembly 

The rights of employees to join or form trade unions, as well as the right to conduct collective negotiations in accordance with the provisions of relevant national laws and regulations, including ILO conventions, shall not be restricted. Employees will not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

8. Health and safety in the workplace
Conditions of safety that are free of risks and hazards in the workplace are to be ensured. Circumstances affecting the workplace and facilities for work operations and conditions for work that violate fundamental human rights are prohibited. Adolescents in particular shall not be exposed to dangerous, uncertain or unhealthy circumstances that could endanger their health and development. Staff must be trained regularly on health and safety at work.

9. Environmental protection

It is mandatory to observe legislation on the environment and safety regarding the handling of waste, chemicals and other hazardous materials and substances. Employees are to be instructed in the proper way of handling such hazardous materials and substances.

10. Conduct of business
Implementation and enforcement of the social standards given above are to be ensured by an internal strategy for such social responsibility and adoption of an appropriate policy for the same. An internal system for reporting breaches of these social standards shall exist, and employees who report transgressions will not be penalized or disadvantaged for doing so.

Each contractual partner of OXALIS is to state it is willing to implement these social standards in its operations and acquaint its business partners with them and ensure their implementation.
