Indikace
Terapeutický význam má relativně vysoký obsah vitaminu C v šípku. Spolu s dalšími látkami poskytuje šípek nálevu příjemnou chuť a může být pravidelným zdrojem vitaminů. Uvádí se, že droga má také mírný diuretický a tonizující účinek. Nažky jsou součástí lidového léčitelství některých regionů v případě artritických bolestí, revmatismu a bolesti sedacího nervu. Vztah ke zdraví: Růže šípková působí jako antioxidant. Přispívá k normální činnosti močového měchýře a ledvin, normálnímu trávení, přirozené obranyschopnosti a normální funkci dýchacího systému.

Nejsou uváděny žádné nežádoucí účinky kromě těch, které vyplývají z možného vyššího příjmu kyseliny askorbové.
