OXALIS 2023 / 2024

1 Dear customer, the year 2023 has been a very extraordinary year for us. We celebrated our 30th anniversary in July and realized we had hit a milestone, which has led us to reviewing the past and looking to the future. In the course of the year 2023, we have gone through many internal changes and reorganization. We have been concentrating on company values and its mission more than ever before. We put an emphasis on internal arrangements as well as the whole employee structure. This resulted in a quite positive feeling: the company is standing on a solid foundation, and is ready for further growth after the pandemic years. We got ourselves many valuable presents for our birthday. In April 2023, our dream came true when we became a shareholder in a tea factory called Tea Studio in South India and started our own production. The brand of Oxalis Tea Factory was thus established. Nowadays, we are one of just a few companies that harvests and produces tea solely in the country of its cultivation. Additionally, our share was used for a purchase of solar panels that were installed on top of the factory and that has led to local sustainability. One month later, we finally got to meet our new coffee roaster machine Loring S70 Peregrine, and we were really excited as we had been waiting for this machine over the past two years. This roaster can roast up to 70 kg of green coffee beans in only 15 minutes, which is double the performance of our previous Kestrel coffee roaster. The Peregrine machine is one of the most modern and most efficient roasters in the Czech Republic. On top of that, it is also very eco-friendly as it consumes a small amount of gas and it consists of only one gas burner, which not only secures the coffee roasting, but also smoke and odor combustion. This machine can process up to 600 tons of coffee per year. We deepened our cooperation with the Tomas Bata Foundation which led to a new collection called the Bata edition. In July, we put a new automated production line into operation. This line focuses on producing tea drinks and syrups in the Oxalis Cool Drinks company. We installed a photovoltaic power station in our headquarters building in Slusovice in August. The main goal of this solution is to save energy costs while becoming environment-friendly. We have organized regular activities in our learning complex Prague Tea Centre on Vodickova street, where we run different tasting classes of our tea and coffee portfolio for the general public. We have also come up with some new products to widen our assortment. Unsurprisingly, the highlight of our new products is the tea from South India. We are introducing five types of teas which are made in our co-ownership Tea Studio in Nilgiri. As in the previous years, we secured a limited amount of the well-known and prized Winter Frost Tea in the Spring. We added a black tea called Orchid, white tea Peony, green tea Maofeng and dark roasted Wulong. In the South Indian blue mountains area, we also visited some other tea factories besides our Tea Studio in February, resulting in an additional six great new tea flavors. Three of them are green tea and three of them are black. Nilgiri Kalpetta GFOP from the western part of the range, South India Elephant Hills from Anamallais district and Nilgiri Korakundah FOB BIO are varieties that have undergone an oxygenation process during processing. The latter one is harvested in the altitude of 2,500 m ASL, which is the highest-elevated tea plantation in the world.
